Our History

On February 22, 1973, Christian Community Action was born. On that day, seven Christians in a Bible study group at St. Philip’s Catholic Church in Lewisville were searching for the true meaning of love.

They resolved immediately to portray God’s love on a daily basis by helping those less fortunate. This ministry began by serving local church congregations, learning about poverty and the steps to alleviate it within their community. Within two years, the group expanded their strategy to provide families with both the assistance they needed at the time and the tools to teach them to help themselves in the future.

Today, there are 150 staff members and more than 2,500 volunteers at CCA. We offer more than 30 programs designed to give families the skills they need, and have served more than 12,000 families within eight school districts and 42 communities through portions of Collin, Dallas, Denton, Tarrant and Wise counties.
