Happy Valentine’s Day!
Dear CCA, Thank you to all of you who participated in our weeklong “Heart2Heart” campaign and tried your hand at “Guess the Love” hearts in the glass jar. We’re closing guesses and campaign donations tonight at midnight, so there’s still time to sneak one in if you haven’t already. We will announce the winner on Monday, so stay tuned. The winner gets to dump the candy hearts on yours truly and wins a nice prize. More importantly, your donation helps to keep families in their homes by providing rent and utility assistance, and fights hunger by providing nutritious groceries and meals for over 650 families every week. Recently, donations helped keep a single mom and her son from facing eviction. COVID-19 forced her work hours at a local restaurant to be reduced, and she was having trouble meeting her rent payment. CCA responded to her needs, provided her with financial assistance and she tells us she is “grateful for the help” she received. When Christian Community Action was first birthed, some of the Bible verses that the founding group studied were in Matthew 25. Jesus, toward the end of the chapter, begins to describe the end times and how serving the “least of these” is like serving Christ himself. “’For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me. Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’” (vs. 35-40). Thank you for helping CCA provide to the “least of these” during these difficult days for many families. God bless, |
