On Saturday, September 25, 2021, Christian Community Action (CCA) held our annual Hopeful Hearts 5k | 1m Stampede event in partnership with the City of Lewisville’s Western Days. Chaired by Tricia Duffy, in loving memory of her father, Tom Duffy, founder of CCA, the event included a walk, a 1k and a 5k option, through beautiful Old Town Lewisville. All ages, walkers, and strollers participated. Age group awards and prizes were awarded to the overall top three female and top three male participants. A VIP post-race sponsor party followed the run.
Tony Tolbert, three-time Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl champion, served as Honorary Chair for the event. As a defensive end for the Cowboys from 1989-1997, Tolbert played an important role in the Cowboys’ rise to prominence in the 90’s and their three Super Bowl victories. He became one of the stalwarts, on one of the best defenses of the 90’s. During that time, he teamed up with Charles Haley to become one of the top pass-rushing duos in the NFL.
“We are honored that Tony Tolbert agreed to serve as the Honorary Chair for this event. As we raised funds to support struggling families in our community, it was important that our honorary chair be an individual who believes in the importance of service and community. Tony is a wonderful example of a servant leader, and we are so grateful for his tremendous heart that serves CCA and the North Texas community,” said Gilbert Montez, President and CEO of CCA.
“I was humbled to be chosen as the Honorary Chair of this wonderful event that symbolizes the goodness of our great community,” said Tony Tolbert. “I wholeheartedly believe in the mission of CCA. The 5k Stampede brought our community together in the name of service to celebrate the beautiful spirit of generosity. I am grateful to be a small part of the story of CCA.”
