It’s National Volunteer Week!
Volunteer Appreciation Week (April 17-23) gives us a focused opportunity to salute our volunteers’ commitment to Christian Community Action (CCA). We’re shining the spotlight on our volunteers: the amazing people whose kind and consistent service transform our communities. I am always struck by the humility, compassion, and passion that our treasured volunteers bring to everything they do.
Whether at the Food Pantry, delivering food to our Golden Angels, teaching a class, or an event where we fellowship together, their love of our mission, families and neighborhoods is always apparent. Saying “thank you” just does not seem to capture the depth of our appreciation for the way they share their time, talents, and treasure with us. Every day, their commitment and sacrifice–to show up on time with a smile on their face–touches so many lives, many more than they know or realize.
In 2021, 4,934 volunteer’s collective service of 26,970 hours translated into an investment of $712,800 in helping us to advance our mission. The numbers are impressive considering we were living through a global pandemic. Without volunteers’ assistance in the Food Pantry, warehouse, family services office, teaching classes, providing counseling, or serving on an event committee, we could not have served over 11,000 individuals.
As CCA grows, so do our programs and volunteer needs. No matter what your interest is, there’s a volunteer role for you! If you’re not sure which role is best for you, our volunteer team can help you out. Simply reach out to us at Nancy.Velez@ccahelps.org or call 972-219-4303.
Sincerely,
