According to Feeding America, there are nearly 29,000 children who are food insecure in Denton County. Children who don’t know where their next meal will come from.

For children who rely on free meals at school, summer can be the hungriest time of the year. 

Your financial contributions help provide summer meals for hundreds of children in our area.

Our summer feeding program, Kids Eat Free, addresses the physical and emotional needs of chil-dren during the summer months. We identify locations where children who would otherwise receive free or reduced lunches at school. 

CCA volunteers then deliver those meals to the children. Our plan is to serve 40,000 meals this summer.

You can help be a part of that effort of feeding children by contributing today. For every $60 you contribute, 20 children are provided meals. 

Many children from low-income families turn to inexpensive, calorie-dense foods during the summer, but those meals lack nutritional value. According to No Kid Hungry, many children who go without school meals during the summer gain weight two to three times faster than their peers during those months. 

That leads to higher healthcare expenses for these children and their families. Additionally, for families who are trying to make every dollar stretch to continue to meet the everyday needs, these meals help alleviate stressful times for parents.

For nearly 30 years, CCA’s Kids Eat Free program has addressed the physical and emotional needs of low-income children during the summer. The program provides dairy products, fruits, vegetables and other healthy food to children.
